BJP CEC meet in Delhi on March 4 to finalise 1st list of candidates for Bengal election

Top BJP leaders will go into a huddle on Thursday (March 4) at the party's headquarters in New Delhi to finalise the list of candidates for the upcoming assembly election in West Bengal.

The party’s Central Election Committee (CEC), a body that decides on who the candidate will be and assigns the constituency, will meet in New Delhi on Thursday to finalise the list for the Bengal election, sources told India Today on Tuesday.

Sources added that the Bengal core group will meet at 8 pm on Tuesday followed by the state election committee meeting at 11 am on Wednesday.

The election in Bengal, poised to be a stiff contest between the TMC and the BJP, will be held in eight phases, beginning with polling for 30 seats on March 27. Votes will be counted on May 2.
