Six dead, 15 injured as trolla overturns in UP

Kanpur Dehat, Mar 2 (UNI) Six people were killed while 15 others sustained critical injuries when a coal-laden trolla overturned in the Bhognipur area here, early Tuesday morning.

Superintendent of Police (SP) Keshav Kumar Chaudhary here said that as per an injured person Shivlal, all the labourers in the vehicle hail from the Hamirpur district and had come till Bhognipur on a truck. They then stopped a coal-laden trolla which was headed towards Etawah.

The driver of the trolla was reportedly not driving it appropriately and the labourers told him to drive safely but he did not listen. Meanwhile, the driver suddenly lost control over the wheels and the vehicle overturned near Maukhas village in Bhognipur, leading to on the spot death of six labourers.

Following the accident, police rescued people trapped inside the vehicle with the help of the local people and sent all the injured to the Community Health Center (CHC), Pukhraya for primary treatment. Later, they were referred to Mati district hospital in Kanpur Dehat. Several among the injured are stated to be critical.

Upon receiving information, the SP reached the spot. He said that the deceased include Chandavati (14), Ramesh, Pinky, Radha, her daughter Komal (8) and son Sooraj (4)

The bodies have been sent for post-mortem. Following the accident, the driver fled from the spot and a search is underway for him.
