HYDERABAD: Congress MP from Bhuvanagiri Komatireddy Venkat Reddy has urged Telangana governor Tamilisai Soundararajan to direct the officials of the state government and Union culture ministry to expedite the restoration works on the ancient Sun temple located at Shaligowraram in the undivided Nalgonda district.
In a letter to the governor, Komatireddy said it is a long-pending demand of the people to restore the ancient Sun temple.
β€œIn October 2020, on your directions, the district administration did a preliminary survey. On February 21, 2021, a team of officials from the Archeological Survey of India also visited the site and submitted a report in their head office in Delhi,” Reddy stated in the letter.
The Congress MP said every year, a large number of devotees from various parts of Telangana visit this temple. Presently, the temple is in a dilapidated condition. There is a proper connecting road to the temple. Also, the temple is surrounded by farmland.
There is an immediate need to take up restoration works on the temple which has historical, spiritual and devotional importance.
β€œI request your kind intervention in this matter,” Komatireddy Venkat Reddy said in his letter.
