Farmer's protest: Section 144 imposed in Lucknow

Lucknow, Mar 2 (UNI) Section 144 was imposed in the state capital Lucknow with immediate effect on Tuesday morning.

In a press note, Lucknow Joint Commissioner of Police (Law & Order) Naveen Arora said that there is a strong possibility of the farmers' agitation aggravating which can create a law and order situation in Lucknow.

In order to maintain law and order, orders have been given to keep Section 144 in force till April 5. During this period, any kind of demonstrations, agitations and rallies will be banned, the statement added.

The press note further said that "anti-social" elements may disrupt peace during upcoming festivals including Maha Shivratri, Holika Dahan, Shab-e-Barat, Good Friday, and Easter Saturday.
