The trailer for the return of Tom Cruise’s Pete Mitchell was released by Paramount Pictures on December 16, 2019. The release of Top Gun: Maverick One is still months away. However, an impressive fan-made trailer of the highly anticipated Hollywood flick has created buzz online. YouTuber Onbeatman has made an impressive preview of the trailer using LEGO pieces only.
Augustus Danko, who goes by the name OnBeatMan on his Twitter profile, took the time to meticulously recreate the entire trailer of Tom Cruise’s Top Gun: Maverick, frame by frame.
Known for his carefully curated brickfilms, the American brick filmmaker shared the results of his hard work over the past few months on Twitter on February 26. Thanks to Danko’s attention to detail, the Lego trailer has even left the film’s producers, amazed. From the fighter jets to ships to costumes and all the landscape from costumes, each frame has been built from scratch. Using stop-motion with added lighting effects, the video, which recreated the original trailer of the film, has been done with some minor detailing.
Not only did every scene get inclusion in the recreation but even the animation has been depicted in the frame-by-frame scenes of the trailer reimagined using Lego bricks. Danko has used mini-figures to represent the movie’s characters. The precision to details, including the iconic Maverick flight helmet of Pete Mitchell has earned plaudits online. Each and every element right from the beautiful backdrops and the fighter planes, looks exactly like how it would in the actual feature film.
The talented artist had the support of other LEGO enthusiasts and visual creators to accomplish the mammoth task. The entire team painstakingly created and produced a masterpiece over a period of months. Danko later released a side-by-side comparison with that of the actual trailer of the film. Paramount Pictures, also reacted to the breath-taking fan-made trailer on Twitter after the word spread on the micro-blogging site. Giving a thumbs-up, the film’s producers used a GIF to appreciate it. “Incredible. one of the finest ever produced,” tweeted the production company.

A sequel had been long awaited and was expected to hit theaters in June 2020. However, the pandemic further postponed the release plans, and now Top Gun is slated for July 2, 2021 release. Paramount was planning to play Maverick on big screens. The studio reportedly turned down offers from Apple TV+ and Netflix to buy the feature.
Top Gun: Maverick follows Pete Mitchell who trains a new squad of graduates from the title aviation school. Maverick’s cast also includes Val Kilmer, Jennifer Connelly, Jon Hamm, Glen Powell, Ed Harris, Monica Barbaro, Lewis Pullman, Charles Parnell, Danny Ramirez and Manny Jacinto.
