CARE Ratings Research Report

After a gap of almost four and a half years, the telecom spectrum auctions were revived on March 01, 2021 with the auctions going online.

The Department of Telecommunications (DoT) had approved a proposal to conduct spectrum auction on December 16, 2020 for which the applications were invited by DoT on January 06, 2021.

This auction will allow incumbent telecom service providers to augment their network capacity and will enable new players to start their services. The previous auction was held in October 2016.

A total of 2,251.25 megahertz units are offered for auction which will be spread across different bands.
