It all started when former Bigg Boss 14 housemate Kavita Kaushik asked Abhinav's wife, Rubina Dilaik, who was also a housemate on the show. Kavita had asked Rubina if she knows the real truths about her husband. This statement from Kavita raised many questions and left everyone curious. At the same time, Kavita's husband Ronnit Biswas had sent out tweets stating that Abhinav had drinking issue and used to send Kavita drunk texts in the past. However, Abhinav had denied all the allegations against him on the show. So when Rubina was asked whether she has confronted Abhinav over Kavita's 'drunk texts' allegations, the Bigg Boss 14 winner said that she is convinced that there's no truth to it. She added that she trusts Abhinav and there's no point of discussing the matter. "Why discuss things where you have faith and you know that it is all a facade, nothing else? Isme koi sachchai hoti, toh apne aap mein ek roop le leta (If there was any truth to it, it would have become a huge deal),” Rubina told radio host Siddharth Kannan.
She added, "Jo cheez wahi pe dhasth ho gayi, uska matlab uska koi wajood hi nahi tha. Jiska wajood hi nahi tha, usko discuss karke, khuredke kya faayda (If it got buried then and there, it means it never happened. What is the point of discussing and raking up something that never happened)?”
In Bigg Boss 14, there was an episode when Abhinav and Rubina confronted Kavita and Ronnit over the claims. During the whole confrontation, Abhinav didn't deny sending messages to Kavita but objected to the allegation that the content of the messages was violent in nature. There came a point when superstar host Salman Khan had to intervene to ask them to stop washing their dirty linens in public. He even scolded Abhinav about not letting go, and insisting that Kavita should share the screenshots of the messages.
During her stint, Rubina, who married Abhinav in 2018, had said that she was on the verge of divorcing Abhinav before entering the reality show. On the show, she had shared that they were about to get divorced and had given each other time till November, and that is the reason they decided to enter Bigg Boss 14 together. Rubina came into the reality show with a huge fan base she had earlier garnered with her roles in shows such as Shakti: Astitva Ke Ehsaas Ki and Chotti Bahu, and she took home the Bigg Boss trophy plus Rs 36 lakh in the grand finale.
