Hit-and-runs claim two lives in city

Gurgaon: Two road accidents claimed as many lives in the city on Saturday.
In the first accident, two brothers — Akash and Sunny — were walking near Garhi Harsaru chowk. Sunny was following his brother when an i20 car came and hit him from behind. “He fell on the ground and suffered an injury on his head. We rushed him to the Sector 10 civil hospital where he was declared dead,” Akash said.
He then approached the police following which an FIR was registered under sections 279 (rash driving or riding in a public way) and 304a (negligence causing death) of IPC. According to police, this is the third fatal accident to take place on the spot since January.
In the other accident, Shaurya and his friend Harsh Tyagi were headed to a dhaba on Sohna road. They took a u-turn near Badshapur and parked their motorcycle to relieve themselves. When they were about to get on their motorcycle, a speeding dumper came and hit their motorcycle.
“Shaurya had received serious injuries and I was also injured. Some passersby took us to a hospital. I found out that my friend had succumbed to his injuries whereas both my legs had been broken,” said Tyagi. Some people tried to stop the driver, but he left the vehicle near the spot and fled.
A case has been registered under IPC sections 279 (rash driving or riding in a public way), 304a (negligence causing death), 338 (causing grievous hurt by act endangering life or personal safety of others) and 427 (mischief causing damage) at Badshapur police station.
On Friday, a truck hit a car near Rajeev Chowk, killing the driver and injuring three others.
