Sustainable tourism is important to develop the sector and bring expected change Jammu and Kashmir tourism

The Union Tourism Secretary Arvind Singh said that sustainable tourism is the only way to develop the sector and bring expected change in the tourism industry in Jammu and Kashmir. Mr. Singh attended the 5th Skiing Graduation ceremony at Indian Institute of Skiing and Mountaineering (IISM) Gulmarg.


The vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi is to renovate the tourism sector as a major source of employment generation in India, Mr. Singh said. He said that adventure tourism will act as the main attraction for domestic and foreign tourists.


The Union Tourism secretary said that with the completion of vaccination programme in the country, the flow of tourists to Gulmarg and the entire Kashmir valley will increase many times, along with relaxing of travel restrictions on foreign tourists.


At the ceremony, the secretary distributed prizes among the players who shined in the competition of different snow games. Among others, Economic Advisor, Union Ministry of Tourism, Gyan Bushan and Director Tourism, Kashmir G N Itoo were also present at the event. Mr. Singh said that the Center is funding the states to improve tourism infrastructure.
