On the closing day of Milan Fashion Week, the Valentino Act Collection will come live from Milan's landmark Piccolo Teatro Milano
So far, a year since the first ever signs of the pandemic, the autumn/winter 2021 season has continued to play out digitally. While Prada promised a post-pandemic dance party and Kim Jones looked inward the Fendi family for inspiration, there are fewer themes you can safely expect from a virtual fashion week. At Valentino, creative director Pierpaolo Piccioli is set to stage a theatrical show imbibed in Milan's cultural treasures. In a bold step to revive the city's cultural activities and hotspots, the fashion show will be aired lived from the landmark theatre, Piccolo Teatro Milano.
“We need culture to be alive and we need to talk about it. Teatro Piccolo di Milano embodies the perfect symbol of all values our brand stands for, it is a place of inclusivity and freedom. This is a first step, and even if it won’t be open to the public, it will give I hope, the idea that we are all going in the right direction,” wrote Piccioli in his latest Instagram post on reopening the theatre. As for the clothes, if the Italian house's last spring couture showcase is anything to go by, they would speak for themselves, perhaps gender-fluid or fantastical, but definitely relevant to the moment.
