NEW DELHI: Maruti Suzuki India, the largest carmaker in the country, on Monday said its total sales stood at 1,64,469 in February 2021, up 11.8 per cent compared with the corresponding month last year.

Total sales in the month include domestic sales of 147,483 units, sales to other Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) at 5,500 units and exports of 11,486 units.

“Overall the numbers are encouraging and point to continued improvement in demand in the PV segment led by the compact segment. Post the January sales numbers we continue to maintain our positive stance on Maruti which is expected to be the biggest beneficiary of recovery in demand for entry level PV,” said Jyoti Roy - DVP- Equity Strategist, Angel Broking.

Shares of the company rose 1.52 per cent to Rs 6,977 following the announcement.

Domestic sales for the month rose 1.18 per cent to 1,52,983 units while exports increased 11.9 per cent to 11,468 units. Domestic sales growth was driven by the compact, UV and LCV segments. The mid-level segment continued to struggle, and registered a decline of 40.6 per cent in sales on a YoY basis.

The largest growth was recorded in the light commercial vehicle and Super Carry segment, which logged sales growth of 507.6 per cent. Sales to other OEMs grew 103.8 per cent.
