Odisha CM takes covid vaccine, appeals to people to get vaccinated

Bhubaneswar, Mar 1 (UNI) Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik took the vaccine today against Covid 19 on the first day of the second phase of vaccination.

The Chief Minister took the shot at the Odisha Assembly dispensary at around 11 AM.

In a tweet, Mr Patnaik said ‘’ Happy to share that I took my first dose of #covid19 vaccine today.

Grateful to our scientists, health workers for their race against time to deliver the vaccines to people.

Appeal to all eligible people to come forward and get vaccinated for a #Covid Free Odisha.’’

In the third phase of vaccination beginning, today people above the age of 60 and those above the age of 45 with comorbidities will be eligible to receive the vaccines against Coronavirus.

Odisha government today allowed an offline registration system for getting the vaccines after the government websites and Co-WIN 2.0 app developed problems during online registration.

In the capital city, Bhubaneswar arrangements have been made in 12 government hospitals including CHC and PHC and 10 private hospitals for the third phase of vaccination.

While the vaccination in the government facilities has been made free in private hospitals one has to pay Rs 250 per dose.

Director of Health and Family Welfare Bijay Panigrahi said vaccination is going on at 153 health centres across the state smoothly

He said no reports of any side effects from any centre has been received so far.

The Director said the problem was reported in the first hour of the vaccination for a brief period due to the slow down of the survey but it was solved later.

He said on the first day on spot registration of 60 people was made and it would be increased later.

In a centre maximum of 100 people would be vaccinated if needed it would be increased.

The Health Director said a decision has been taken to conduct vaccination in 183 hospitals affiliated to Biju Swasthya Kalyan Yojana and 132 government hospitals in the state.

Describing the vaccine as safe, he appealed to all eligible people to take the vaccine.
