With the Covid-19 situation having improved across the country noticeably, the travel and tourism industry is resting their hopes on a happy summer.

Domestic leisure travel, which has already reached 75% of its pre-Covid business levels, is expected to bring more bookings year-on-year in the next two-three months with the beginning of summer vacation.

Sanjiv Agarwal, the chairman of Fairfest Media, said that he is expecting “business as usual” this summer. Mr. Agarwal said this in TTF, which is one of the oldest travel and tourism road shows in eastern India which was inaugurated by Nandini Chakraborty, the state principal secretary of tourism.

Mr. Agarwal said that this year has started on a good and promising note for the travel and tourism industry. He said that with the vaccination drive in progress, travelers have regained their lost confidence and air travel has surpassed 85% of its pre-Covid levels. Domestic leisure travel is witnessing chances of a strong revival. Mr. Agarwal also stated that international travel might restart later this year, with business travel likely to reach levels of previous year.
