Apni Party says 'statehood is our basic right'

Srinagar, Mar 1 (UNI) Asserting that statehood is the basic right of the people of Jammu and Kashmir, Apni Party (AP) on Monday said party will never compromise on this issue even though some are now giving a silent nod to it.
A spokesman of the AP said a one-day party workers convention was Monday held at Charar-e-Sharief in the central Kashmir district of Budgam.
Addressing the convention, AP vice president Zaffar Iqbal Manhas said his party is committed for the restoration of statehood and will not rest until that goal is materialised. He said, “Our party will leave no stone unturned until statehood is reinstated. Our party will never compromise on this issue even though some are now giving a silent nod to it.”
He said Chrar-e-Sharif is a sacred land famous all over the world for being the resting place of Kashmir’s famous Sufi saint Hazrat Noor-ud-din Wali .
“This blessed and sacred land is a place for devotees and tourists but regrettably it has not seen the much deserved infrastructural development to cater to their needs. However, we envision that with our unstinted efforts and your cooperation Chrar-e-Sharif will emerge as a model town that will host devotees in a more comfortable manner,” Manhas said.

The event was addressed by Media Advisor Farooq Andrabi, District President Srinagar Noor Mohammad Sheikh, General Secretary Youth Wing Muzaffar Reshi and Provincial President Youth Wing Kashmir Khalid Rathore. They impressed upon the party workers to work diligently for the welfare of the people in their respective areas and mitigate their sufferings at the earliest.
