Dubai cat cafe hopes rescues will find purr-fect new homes

Ailuromania was the first cat cafe in the Middle East, and was made even more unique thanks to the built in rescue option that has some 20 odd cats, currently.

Dubai has a large number of strays, with many kitties abandoned on the street by their owners, despite a 2018 law making it illegal to abandon them.

The cafe began as a place where people could come and play with a kitty, inspired by similar places in other parts of the world. The owners, sisters Allaa and Iman, believe their cafe to be a stress reliever.

Like most businesses, Ailuronmania was also hit by the pandemic, having to close down operations during the peak of the pandemic. Now, the cafe is open again, with restrictions in place and hope for finding their 25 strays a forever home.
