ATP Rankings: Djokovic likely to break Roger Federer’s record- Novak Djokovic has set an all-time record for staying at the No.1 position at ATP rankings. He has equalled Swiss Tennis Maestro Roger Federer, holding the top spot for the 310th week. He recently won his 9th Australian Open Crown and 18th Grand Slam overall. If he stays for another week, Djokovic will go past Federer’s record. He is only behind Rafael Nadal and Roger Federer. Both have won 18 Grand Slam titles.
The Serbian had claimed the pinnacle of ATP rankings in February 2020. He finished as World No.1 for the sixth time last year, tieing a previous record by Pete Sampras.
Djokovic has five stints at the top of the ATP rankings. He ranked No.1 for 122 consecutive weeks between July 2014 and November 2016. Federer holds the record of consecutive 237 weeks at the top of the men’s tennis rankings.
Meanwhile, David Goffin has risen to 14th place after his first title at Montpellier on Sunday.
