Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday appealed to the people to start a 100-day 'Catch the Rain' campaign to conserve water ahead of the summer. Addressing the country in his monthly radio programme 'Mann Ki Baat', the Prime Minister said "this is the best time to think about water conservation in the summer months ahead".
India's Polar rocket PSLV C-51 carrying Amazonia-1 of Brazil and 18 other satellites took off from this spaceport on Sunday, in the first mission of the year for ISRO. At the end of a nearly 26-hour countdown, the Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle PSLV-C51 lifted off from the first launch pad of the Satish Dhawan Space Centre (SHAR), over 100 km from Chennai, at around 10.24 am.
Meanwhile, the voting is underway for by-elections in five municipal corporation wards of Delhi. The MCD polls are underway in five wards -Ward No 32N, (Rohini-C), Ward No 62N, (Shalimar Bagh North) in North Delhi and Ward No 02-E (Trilokpuri), Ward No 08-E (Kalyanpuri) and Ward No 41-E (Chauhan Bangar) in East Delhi.
Polling is currently underway for civic polls on 88 seats in Gujarat's Vadodara district along with 34 zila panchayat seats and 168 taluka panchayat seats. Voting began at 7 am and will continue till 6 pm.
