Election Commission removed Bengal ADG ( Law & Order) Jawved Shamim

Kolkata, Feb 28 (UNI) The Election Commission has removed West Bengal's ADG and IGP ( Law and Order) Jawved Shamim with immediate effect, a day after the EC announced an eight-phase polling for state 294-seat assembly poll begging March 27, 2021.

IPS and Director General Fire Services Jagmohan was asked to take

charge in the vacant post as the ADG and Mr Shamim was transferred to fill the vacant post of Mr Jagmohan.

Mr Shamim will also hold the charge of director general civil defence till further order.

The EC on Friday announced the election schedules and the removal the order came a day later, official sources said.

Mr Shamim was appointed in the post of ADG and IGP ( Law and Order) on February 6 last to replace the incumbent Gyanmant Singh (IPS).
