India records 16,752 COVID-19 cases, 113 more deaths

New Delhi, Feb 28 (UNI) India recorded 16,752 Covid-19 cases and 113 more deaths from the virus in the past 24 hours, Union Health Ministry said on Sunday.

The country reported the highest number of fresh cases in the past 30 days.

With the new additions, the case tally surged to 1,10,96,731 while the death toll climbed to 1,57,051.

As per the official data, the total number of active cases now are 1,64,511 while the number of recovered are 1,07,75,169, with a recovery rate of 97.10 per cent and death rate 1.42 per cent.

According to the Indian Council of Medical Research, some 7,95,723 samples were tested in the last 24 hours, bringing the total tests to 21,62,31,106.
