'Pokémon Go' Kanto Raid Day: Start Time, Counters and Everything You Need to Know
Pokémon is celebrating the Kanto region for the franchise's 25th anniversary and it will cap off the festivities with a special Raid Day featuring Moltres, Articuno and Zapdos.
The Kanto Raid Day event begins this Sunday and trainers will see all three Legendary Birds from Gen 1 in every Raid during the event-window. While the three Legendary Pokémon have been in the game for quite some time, trainers will get a chance to catch the Shiny versions of them as well as Shadow versions.
Giovanni will return during the event and defeating him and completing the event tasks will give trainers a chance to catch Shadow Zapdos, Shadow Articuno and Shadow Moltres.
Thankfully, this event will give trainers a chance to swap out the move Frustration for another attack. Frustration can't normally be swapped with a different attack so trainers will want to take advantage of Sunday's event.
Trainers will be able to pick up free Remote Raid Passes once in the in-game shop starting February 27 at 4 p.m. EDT as well as up to five Raid Passes by spinning PokeStops or Gyms during the event on Sunday.

POKÉMON GO KANTO RAID DAY START TIME
The Pokémon Go Kanto Raid Day begins Sunday, February 28 at 11 a.m. and ends at 2 p.m. local time.
MOLTRES COUNTERS
Moltres is a Fire and Flying-type Pokémon making it weak to Rock, Water and Electric-type attacks.
Rock-type attacks will be what trainers want to use against Moltres and thankfully there are plenty of them in Pokémon Go already. However, if you want a bit more fire power you can take one of the Water-type Mega Pokémon into battle.
Consider taking these Pokémon into battle against Moltres.
- Mega Blastoise with Water Gun and Hydro Cannon
- Mega Gyarados with Waterfall and Aqua Tail
- Mega Ampharos with Charge Beam and Thunder Punch
- Tyranitar with Smack Down and Stone Edge
- Rhyperior with Smack Down and Rock Wrecker
- Rampardos with Smack Down and Rock Slide
- Alolan Golem with Rock Throw and Wild Charge/Stone Edge
- Omastar with Rock Throw and Rock Slide
- Raikou with Thundershock and Wild Charge
- Zapdos with Thundershock and Thunderbolt
ARTICUNO COUNTERS
Articuno is an Ice and Flying-type Pokémon making it weak to Rock, Fire, Electric and Steel-type attacks. Like with going against Moltres, Pokémon Go players will want to go into battles against Articuno with plenty of Rock types.
There are a handful of Mega Pokémon that trainers should consider to get a power boost for Fire and Electric-type attacks. Here's a list of possible Pokémon to bring into battle against Articuno.
- Mega Charizard Y with Fire Spin and Blast Burn
- Mega Ampharos with Charge Beam and Thunder Punch
- Mega Houndoom with Fire Fang and Flamethrower
- Tyranitar with Smack Down and Stone Edge
- Rhyperior with Smack Down and Rock Wrecker
- Rampardos with Smack Down and Rock Slide
- Metagross with Bullet Punch and Meteor Mash
- Omastar with Rock Throw and Rock Slide
ZAPDOS COUNTERS
Zapdos is an Electric and Flying-type Pokémon making it weak to only Ice and Rock-type attacks.
Of the three Legendary Birds, Zapdos has the least amount of weaknesses but it's still weak to some of the strongest Rock-type Pokémon in the game. Bring plenty of Rock types, especially if they have a secondary Ground typing, and considering Mega Abomasnow to boost Ice-type attacks.
Here's a list of possible options against Zapdos:
- Mega Abomasnow with Powder Snow and Weather Ball (Ice)
- Tyranitar with Smack Down and Stone Edge
- Rhyperior with Smack Down and Rock Wrecker
- Rampardos with Smack Down and Rock Slide
- Regice with Frost Breath and Blizzard
- Walrein with Frost Breath and Blizzard
