In Rajasthan, 7.97 lakh people, including health workers and frontline workers, got COVID vaccinated out of the total target of 9,42,628 for the first dose.
With this, Rajasthan was ranked top in the country for successfully vaccinating over 85% of corona warriors in the first phase of the vaccination programme. On Friday, 547 people, including health workers and frontline workers, got vaccinated for the first dose while 72,274 got vaccinated for the second dose in the 846 sessions planned for the day.
Siddharth Mahajan, secretary, medical and health, stated that from January 16 till Friday, the total registration for the first dose was 9,42,628. “Of the total registration, we have vaccinated 7,97,791 so far, including health workers and frontline workers. I must thank every department who played an active role in achieving this,” he said.
Meanwhile, vaccination 2.0 will start from March 1 onwards. For this phase, under the new guidelines of the Union health ministry, all those who are over 60 years of age and also those who are of 45 years to 60 years of age and are suffering from some serious disease, would be vaccinated.
This was decided in the meeting of the COVID vaccination task force held through video conferencing on Friday evening which was chaired by Mahajan.
Earlier in the day, 404 health workers got their first dose, while 72,274 got the second dose of vaccine. Likewise, 143 frontline workers got the first dose, but nothing was planned for the frontline workers. “Presently, we are giving the second dose to the health workers who had already received their first dose and completed their 28 days. Apart from this those left for the first dose are given vaccine while the first dose for the frontline workers is already running,” said Dr Raghuraj Singh, nodal officer vaccination.
Singh appealed the health workers who had got their first dose and have completed their 28 days should come forward for the second dose. “From March 1 onwards, we will have to start vaccination for two categories those who have completed 60 years of age and also those in the age bracket of 45 to 60 years and are suffering from some disease,” he added.
