Gurgaon: As the city gears up to start the third phase of vaccination from March 1, as many as 19 private hospitals in Gurgaon will be converted into session sites. The hospitals, which include Artemis, Kalyani, Max, Medanta, Medeor, Mayom, Metro, Paras, Park, SGT, Signature, Sunrise, Kamla, Umkal, Ahuja, Centre for sight, Eye Q Clinic, Geetanjali and Aryan hospitals, are training their staff for the vaccination drive. More than 500 hospitals will be converted into session sites in Haryana from March 1.
These private hospitals are empanelled under the Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (PM-JAY) and Central Government Health Scheme (CGHS). People above 60 years and those above 45 years having comorbidities will get inoculated in the third phase.
“We have been conducting a drive to vaccinate our own staff so far. Some are also getting their second doses now. We have also conducted mixed sessions of both first and second doses. We are prepared for the third phase as well. We are also ready to buy the vaccine at the rate which the government has fixed for private hospitals and have been training our staff as per the requirement,” said Dr PN Kakar, CEO of Park Hospital, Gurgaon.
He added: “Till now, vaccinators from Civil hospital are helping us carry out the drive. We get our staff trained by the CMO’s office. We have cold chain facilities where we can store the vaccine for the next round.”
Hospitals are confident that they can conduct the drive without glitches.
Artemis Hospital medical superintendent Dr Anjali Kaul said, “We have been doing the same job for more than a month now. We know how to handle the Co-WIN portal and manage people after vaccination. Our staff has acquired the know-how of the things from the health department team. So far, we have successfully carried out the first and second phases and we have designated areas where the entire system is working. This doesn’t affect our daily routine.”
