Donald Trump 'Not Done With This Revolution,' Former White House Aide Tells CPAC
Former White House deputy national security advisor Kathleen Troia "KT" McFarland said Saturday that the "American revolution" led by ex-President Donald Trump "is not done."
McFarland, who briefly served under Trump national security adviser Michael Flynn until he resigned in February 2017, told Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) attendees "Donald Trump is not done with this revolution." She claimed FBI agents tied to Special Counsel Robert Mueller's investigation attempted to "trick" her into committing perjury and this was just one example of how federal government elites were trying to subvert Trump's "people's revolution." Drawing raucous applause, McFarland commended Trump supporters for "seizing at this moment" to reclaim their rights from so-called Washington elites.
She went on to compare Trump to other "unexpected leaders" of revolutions throughout U.S. history including former presidents Abraham Lincoln, Theodore Roosevelt and Ronald Reagan.
"What I realized is we were in the middle of a revolution, a people's revolution. I went back and read all about American history. We were supposed to have revolution. Our founding fathers understood the nature of government is always to get bigger, it's always to grab more of your rights. And that's why they gave us a right to a political revolution and that's what happened in 2016."
"I realized, the American Revolution that Donald Trump launched was only half-finished, we're not done yet," she said. "Our job is not done."
McFarland was at the Orlando, Florida, conservative conference Saturday to give a speech on the Sixth Amendment and "rights of the accused." She previously served on the Republican administrations of Richard Nixon, Gerald Ford and Ronald Reagan. She left the White House just weeks after starting her job in 2017 because her then-boss, national security advisor Flynn, resigned after information surfaced he misled Vice President Mike Pence and others about his communication with Russian officials.
McFarland told the audience that while she "knew" Trump had the right stances on China, Iran, foreign wars and the economy going back to his 2016 campaign, she's had several recent epiphanies that made her realize the breadth of Trump's "revolution."
Notably, she said the FBI attempted to "trick" her into pleading guilty to perjury and tried to get her to "implicate President Trump" for crimes "he didn't do" during hours of conversations at her Long Island, New York, home. In response, she and her husband fled the country on several long vacations to remote and tropical locations so she could write a book on Trump that she plugged Saturday for CPAC attendees.
