10 firms show interest in railways’ ‘roll on-roll off’ service on Western Dedicated Freight Corridor


The pre-bid convention on allotment of sole rights for the operation of the railways’ “Roll-On-Roll-Off” (RO-RO) service between the New Palanpur-New Rewari part of the Western Dedicated Freight Corridor (WDFC) was held on Friday by way of each bodily participation in addition to video-conferencing.

Currently, the target market share offered is 45 trucks per trip, which is a fraction of the 2,500-3,000 trucks plying on this route daily,” the assertion mentioned.

Presently, 2,500-3,000 vans ply day by day between Rewari and Palanpur. The licensee will run two rakes of 45 BRN wagons every with 450 journeys per rake, totalling 900 journeys in a 12 months. The reserve worth is Rs 9 lakh and the minimal contract worth is Rs 81 crore.

In the primary part, the DFCCIL is setting up the WDFC (1,506 route km) and the Eastern DFC (1,875 route km, together with the PPP part of the Sonnagar-Dankuni stretch).

Starting from Sahnewal close to Ludhiana (Punjab), the EDFC will cross by way of Punjab, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar and Jharkhand to terminate at Dankuni in West Bengal.

The WDFC, connecting Dadri in Uttar Pradesh to the Jawaharlal Nehru Port (JNPT) in Mumbai, will traverse by way of Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Rajasthan, Gujarat and Maharashtra.
