Although there never needs to be any specific moment to start feeling proud of being an Indian, considering it is an everlasting feeling, today might just be one of those days when you feel like basking in glory of your roots. We say this after coming across the news of India making its way to the Oscars 2021 nominations, as the film ‘Soorarai Pottru’ gets in the eligibility list for a Best Picture nomination at the Oscars 2021 as the only Indian film in 366 films. And the best part? It was directed by Sudha Kongara, a director who is making India proud now.
Released on Amazon Prime Video last year, Tamil film ‘Soorarai Pottru’ is an action and drama film directed by Sudha Kongara, starring superstar South Indian actors like Suriya in the lead, alongside Aparna Balamurali, and with Paresh Rawal and Mohan Babu in pivotal roles.
The film is said to be produced by Suriya’s 2D Entertainment and is co-produced by Guneet Monga’s Sikhya Entertainment. Touted to be a fictionalised version of the famous book “Simply Fly” written on the life of Air Deccan founder Capt. G. R. Gopinath, the movie created quite a few waves even when it was launched. Little did we know. one such wave would carry it all the way to the prestigious Oscars nominations for 2021 for which it meets the criteria and stays on in the race. Needless to point out how women are outdoing themselves in every field, striving ahead against all odds and how.
