One arrested for issue of fake Covid test report for overseas employment

Thane, Feb 25 (UNI) The Mira Bhayander Vasai Virar (MBVV) police on Wednesday arrested a man from Naya Nagar on the alleged charges of issuing a fake Covid19 test report to a overseas job seeker the police said on Thursday.
Sr. PI Kailas Barve of the Naya Nagar police station of Mira Road told this correspondent that the accused had on the pretext of getting an overseas job cheated the victim from Punjab to the tune of around Rs. 1.45 lakhs so far. The accused Dheeraj Jha,30 had promised a shipping job for the victim in Dubai the police said.

The police gave the name of the victim as Gurusaran Singh, 27 of Punjab.

The victim had made the payment two years back and meanwhile the victim was also sent to Gujarat stating that he would be routed to Merchant Navy from there. There also he had not not got any assistance and stayed with a autorickshaw man for three days only to return empty handed.

It is since the the last about one and half month he has been living at the Gurudwada.

It was three days back all of a sudden he got a visa and ticket from the accused asking him to board the flight and also the Covid 19 test report. The visa was also valid only for four days and even if he had gone there he would have been required to return within that time.

The accused made fake passport and visa for the accused and also issued him a Covid19 test report and asked him to proceed. In the first place the accused did not not get the victim the promised job so far neither returned him the money already paid.

However when the victim got the Covid19 test report he got a shock of his life as he had never done the test for the same.

The accused had fabricated the Covid19 test report by changing the name and date on the original certificate of another person and gave it to the victim.

Then he lodged a complaint with the police which was converted into an FIR under sections 420,467,468, and 471 of the IPC.

The police officer said that the accused had set up the overseas employment firm in Naya Nagar which itself was a fake one. The company which the accused operated was Baltic Marine which was a defaulter company the police said after probe.

The police are also finding out if any more persons were involved in the racket.

The police officer also said that the police are finding out if any more persons are cheated in this fashion by the accused and his men.
