Odisha to regularize striking ANM workers on merit basis: Minister

Bhubaneswar, Feb 26 (UNI) The striking Auxiliary Nurse Midwife (ANM )workers will be given permanent jobs on merit basis, Health and Family Welfare Minister Naba Kishore Das told the
Odisha Assembly today.
Making a statement in the house during zero hour, Mr.Das said 1099 posts of ANM were
lying vacant. The agitating ANM workers would be recruited against these vacant posts.
The ANM workers are on strike in front of the state Assembly for over two months
demanding regularisation of their jobs.
These ANM workers were given conditional appointment for a period of 90 days on daily
wage basis during covid pandemic for the smooth functioning of the Covid care centre.
They were retrenched from their jobs after the covid situation in the state improved a lot
and covid centres were closed.
Since then the workers were on strike demanding regularisation of their jobs.
