Man stabs police constable, held

Krishnagiri: A rowdy stabbed a police constable when he tried to nab him at Kelamangalam here on Thursday.
The accused has been identified as M Madesh, 24, of Pattalamman Koil Street. There are more than 10 cases pending against him at several police stations including Denkanikottai, Kelamangalam and Uthanapalli, sources said.
“He had recently stolen iron rods from a temple at Denkanikottai. Sub-inspector Gnanakkan Ragunathan came to know that Madesh was hiding at Anchetty and a police team rushed to the spot. SIs including Gnanakkan Ragunathan, Kathiravan and constables Sivakumar, Chandrakumar surrounded the accused at the bus stand. He suddenly stabbed Sivakumar, who received a wound on his hand. However, they managed to arrest the accused,” a police officer said.
Sivakumar was admitted to the government hospital at Kelamangalam.
