Telangana records 189 fresh COVID-19 cases, two fatalities until 2000 hours on Thursday

Hyderabad, Feb 26 (UNI) With 189 new COVID-19 infections reported until 2000 hours on Thursday, the total number of confirmed Coronavirus cases in Telangana reached 2,98,453 so far, according to a state health department bulletin issued here on Friday after a three day's break.
It may be mentioned that after a 72-hour gap, the state health department resumed the issuing of the daily bulletin following the Telangana High Court direction to the government to resume the COVID-19 daily bulletin containing details about the infected and recovered persons.
The Court's direction followed after hearing a batch of Public Interest Litigations on the COVID-19 related issues.
Informatively, the health department had stopped issuing daily media bulletin on COVID-19 cases from Tuesday saying instead the department would issue the report carrying information about the Coronavirus once a week.
Meanwhile, the cumulative death toll in the state mounted to 1632 as on date after two patients died of COVID-19 in the past 24 hours translating a case fatality rate of 0.54 per cent as against the countrywide mortality rate of 1.4 per cent, the bulletin said.
A total of 129 people have recovered from Coronavirus state-wide in a span of 24 hours pushing the total number of recoveries so far to 2, 94,911 constituting a recovery rate of 98.81 per cent while the National recovery rate was 97.2 per cent.
Currently, the active cases in the state stand at 1,910 including 818 individuals in home or institutional isolation. It said.
About 42,432 swab samples have been tested in the state to detect the contagious virus and out of which the reports of 756 swab samples are awaited.
Cumulatively, more than 86.18 lakh COVID-19 tests have been carried out in the state till date since the outbreak of the Coronavirus pandemic.
Remaining the top contributor of the infection, the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) reported a maximum of 31 new Coronavirus cases followed by Medchal Malkajigiri district (19) and Ranga Reddy district (16).
The remaining fresh Coronavirus cases have been reported by other districts, the bulletin added.
