Cops send notice to 10 over Covid rules, take it back

Greater Noida: Police issued notices to 10 residents of Shri Radha Sky Gardens, a highrise society in Noida Extension, for allegedly violating Covid-related norms while staging a protest on Saturday and Sunday against their builder. Later, the notice was put on “standby” after residents took to social media to voice their protest.
More than 100 residents of the society took part in the protest against the builder who allegedly failed to provide amenities promised at the time of booking their apartments. Later, Ram Agarwal, director, Shri Radha Sky Garden, filed a police complaint against 10 of the protesters.
The station house officer (SHO) of Bisrakh police station then issued notices to the 10 residents citing violations under CrPC Section 91.
Gaurav Patel, a resident who got the notice, said they had taken verbal permit from the local police post before organising the protest.
“During the agitation, police personnel were present at the spot and they did not say anything. On Wednesday evening, we got notices from the SHO and he asked us to go to the police station with an explanation. We went there but he was not around. We spoke to him over the phone and he asked us to go back again,” he said. “It is interesting that the builder mentioned only 10 names in his complaint while around 100 residents were at the protest,” he added.
About 500 families stay in the complex. Residents said even after three years, most people don’t have basement parking facilities. They alleged that the basement area has seepage problem and the lifts don’t work properly.
The builder could not be contacted for a comment.
Abhishek Kumar, president, Noida Extension Flat Owners’ Welfare Association, alleged that most people have not got their flats even after paying up most of the amount.
Harish Chander, DCP, central Noida, said the notices were issued so that they knew if all Covid-related precautions were taken while the residents staged the protest. “We have rolled them back and soon, the SHO will meet the residents to discuss the matter,” the DCP said.
