Chennai, Feb 26 (UNI) Tamil Nadu Governor Banwarilal Purohit
today condoled the death of senior CPI leader D Pandian.
In his condolence message, he said 'I am deeply saddened to
know about the death of Thiru. D. Pandian, former Member of
Parliament.'
Mr Pandian started his career as lecturer in English in
Alagappa College in Karaikudi. He was elected to the Lok
Sabha from North Chennai constituency in 1989 and 1991
elections representing the Communist Party of India.
He was the Tamil Nadu State Secretary of the Communist
Party of India for nearly six years till 2015 and was
the editor of Jana Sakthi, a Tamil daily run by the
Communist Party of India.
With a political span covering nearly many decades, his
contribution to the development of Tamil Nadu will always
remain unforgettable.
His demise is an irreparable loss to the people of Tamil
Nadu and particularly to the Communist Party of India.
'I convey my deep condolences to the bereaved members
of the family and pray to the Almighty God to rest his soul
in peace and give strength to his family and followers to
overcome this unfathomable loss', Mr Purohit said.
