Patna, Feb 26 (UNI) Bihar government today announced in the state assembly that it would soon appoint 6338 doctors, including specialists and general doctors, to fill the vacant posts.
Replying to a short notice question of Mr Arun Shankar Prasad during the pre-lunch sitting, Bihar Health Minister Mangal Pandey said 3706 specialist doctors and 2632 general doctors would be appointed to fill the vacant posts.
The government has sought recommendations from Bihar Technical Recruitment Commission and the appointments would start as soon as it is received, he said.
A total of 4000 doctors, including 929 specialist doctors and 386 general doctors have so far been appointed, the minister informed.
The minister said 9130 nursing posts were vacant against which 5017 nurses under grade A have been appointed on the recommendations of the commission whereas the process for appointment to the rest of the vacant posts is in progress.
Similarly, based on the recommendations for the appointment of 6480 ANMs, 6293 applicants were appointed in various districts and the step to fulfill the rest of the vacant ANM posts have been initiated.
The Minister said that the process for appointment to the vacant Technical posts in the health sector is also in progress.
Mr Pandey said 1322 health wellness centres are functional in the state which have been set up to provide treatment for 12 different diseases but currently treatment for seven diseases are available and soon care for five more diseases would be available soon.
Intervening into the Supplementary being raised by the members of the house, the leader of opposition in the state assembly Tejasvi Prasad Yadav asked the government to inform the doctor people ratio in Bihar and the national average, total number of the vacant posts of the the doctors and the total number of doctors appointed.
