The burger giants who try to outdo each other in the offline world with better offers have taken the competition online as well. It all started with a 2019 tweet by American fried chicken food chain Popeyes Chicken when they were at a loss of words because their chicken sandwich was ‘so good.’ They used random words like pickle, brioche, chicken to describe how good the chicken sandwich tasted. The tweet added that after tasting the dish, they forgot how to speak complete sentences. Popeyes Chicken had tweeted it when they launched chicken sandwiches back in 2019.
Chicken. Brioche. Pickles. New. Sandwich. Popeyes. Nationwide. So. Good. Forgot. How. Speak. In. Complete. Sandwiches. I mean, sentences. pic.twitter.com/14kXBv4jJw— Popeyes Chicken (@PopeyesChicken) August 12, 2019
As other brands were in no mood to take this over the top advertising by Popeyes Chicken lying down, they launched a tweet attack on the food chain established in 1972. Chick-fil-A, American fast food company, had tweeted that there is all love for the ‘original’ combination of chicken, bun and pickles.
Bun + Chicken + Pickles = all the ❤️ for the original. pic.twitter.com/qBAIIxZx5v— Chick-fil-A, Inc. (@ChickfilA) August 19, 2019
While Chick-fil-A was fighting with Popeyes Chicken for the ‘Best Chicken Sandwich/Burger’ title, Wendy's had declared their burger the best and said that people are fighting about which of the two ‘fools’ has the second best sandwich.
Y’all out here fighting about which of these fools has the second best chicken sandwich. pic.twitter.com/4v9RJFgy0T— Wendy's (@Wendys) August 19, 2019
Since then, chicken sandwich fans have been expecting fast-food giants to launch their own versions of the food item. After a wait of over one year, rivals like McDonald's and KFC have finally responded to the call.
On February 24, 2021, McDonald's launched its new chicken sandwiches after making an announcement on Twitter on February 16.
Before McDonald's' great reveal, KFC launched its best ever chicken sandwich’ on January 7, 2021. The statement said that by the end of February, their chicken sandwich would be available in 4,000 stores in the United States.

As per a report by ABC News, Burger King has also developed a new chicken sandwich. The launch date has not been decided yet but in a statement, the fast-food chain has said that it will be launched later this year. The report states that the new chicken sandwich will have a chicken breast which will be hand breaded on a potato bun. For flavour, the Burger King chicken sandwich will have a signature sauce and deli pickles.
