Rupnagar tops country in effective implementation of PM Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojna

Chandigarh/Rupnagar, Feb 24 (UNI) Rupnagar district has won laurals for Punjab by notching first position in the country in the effective implementation of the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana which completes two years on February 24.
Union Agriculture Minister Narinder Singh Tomar on Wednesday conferred the award in this regard to Rupnagar district in a function organised at New Delhi.
Stating this in a communique here, Rupnagar Deputy Commissioner Sonali Giri said the award was received by Dr Sukhdev Singh Sidhu, Director Agriculture, Punjab and Mr Avtar Singh, Chief Agriculture Officer on behalf of the district administration.
Elaborating upon the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana, she said it is a government scheme that gives Rs 6,000 annual subsidy to the registered beneficiary farmers in three installments of Rs 2,000 each. According to the scheme, all small and marginal farmers will get up to Rs 6,000 per year as minimum income support.
Ms Giri said district Rupnagar topped all the rest of the district of the country in the category of Most Aadhar authentication of the farmers and disbursed the amount of Rs. 6000 to the more number of farmers under this scheme as compared to other districts of the country.
The Deputy Commissioner congratulated the team of Chief Agriculture Officer Rupnagar for this remarkable achievement.
Followed by Rupnagar, Kurukshetra of Haryana and Bilaspur in Chhatisgarh got second and third positions respectively in 'other states’ category of this parameter. In the category of ‘northeast/hilly areas’, Lahaul and Spiti (Himachal Pradesh) topped the list while Udham Singh Nagar (Uttarakhand) got the second position.
