JJMP area commander killed in encounter with police in Palamu

Daltonganj, Feb 24 (UNI) An area commander of the Jharkhand Janmukti Parishad was killed in an encounter which took place in Chorhat village under Ramgarh police station area of the Palamu district on Wednesday.
The deceased has been identified as Mahesh Ji alias Mahesh Bhuiyaan. Palamu SP Sanjiv Kumar said that a tip-off had been received regarding the presence of JJMP ultras in the village after which a police team was dispatched on the spot which surrounded the village.
Upon seeing the policeman the ultras opened fire which was retaliated back and in the gun battle area commander, Mahesh Ji alias Mahesh Bhuiyaan was killed.
He said that search and combing operations were on in the area. The incident spot is located 25 kilometres away from the district headquarters of Medninagar.

Imphal, Feb 24 (UNI) In the past twenty-four hours, seven persons (2M, 5F) from the general population were confirmed as new COVID 19 positive cases. They were tested at JNIMS (4), Shija Hospital (1) and Hillside (2). They were from Imphal East (2), Imphal West (3) and Bishnupur (2). The cumulative number of deaths was 373.
