Feb. 24—Cases completed

The following cases were handled in local magisterial district courts:

— A count of child endangerment filed against Alexandria J. Miscavage, 23, Hazle Twp., by state police at Hazleton after an October 2020 child abuse/neglect incident was held for court before Magisterial District Judge James Dixon, Hazle Twp., on Feb. 19. Andrew J. Gortva, 35, Hazleton, waived his right to a preliminary hearing on the same charge in the case before Dixon that day. They were charged after troopers said it was learned their 7-week-old infant son didn't gain weight since birth. Troopers said the child was placed in foster care.

— Charges for simple assault and harassment filed against Matthew R. Drije, 37, Tamaqua, in response to a Feb. 5 incident, were withdrawn by officers during a Feb. 16 preliminary hearing.
