J&K Cong to intensify protests against “Tax Terrorism”

Jammu, Feb 24 (UNI) Jammu and Kashmir unit of Congress on Wednesday announced to intensify the agitational programme against the Jammu and Kashmir government’s “Tax Terrorism” by organising series of protests, dharnas and arrests to create movement for seeking roll back of unprecedented taxes by the centre govt and UT administration.
Addressing the party's convention, JKPCC Chief G A Mir said that the schedule of protest demonstrations has been chalked out for different areas of all districts in which people as well workers and senior leaders shall attend.
He said that the schedule of protests is upto March 30 further stating that the party units are already protesting in this regard but it shall be expanded and intensified throughout the Jammu province and Kashmir valley in coming days.
Mr Mir also said that the government has let loose a reign of terror by imposing heavy taxes of various kinds and the common man is unable to manage his livelihood and day today needs.
“The BJP government came to power with the slogan of ‘achhe din’ but has gifted hard days with unprecedented price hike, rising unemployment, anti farmers and anti Youth policies and record high taxes,” he expressed and said that the government is earning out of the miseries of the people who are made to pay from their nose.
“Each and every section is sufferings because of the economic policies of the BJP government which has brought the economy to the lowest levels since independence and bringing the common people to the knees,” he said adding that Congress would organise series of protests to draw the attention of the government to the hardships faced by the people of Jammu and Kashmir who are more distressed economically due to multiple disturbances in the recent years but have been overburdened with multiple taxes including toll taxes, Road taxes, hike in power and water taxes, hike in registration fee, stamp duty and now property tax.
He also called upon people to rise against the insensitive and indifferent government fleecing people in the name of taxes.

COVID: J&K reports 74 new +ve cases
