Fraudster posing as KTR’s PA held for extortion
City police apprehended a former Ranji Trophy cricketer-turned-fraudster for impersonating the personal assistant of municipal administration minister KT Rama Rao to extort money from a corporate hospital. The accused, B Nagaraju, a native of Srikakulam in Andhra Pradesh, has previously been arrested several times by the city police and AP police for impersonating as PA of KTR and also former BCCI chief selector MSK Prasad.

Imam gets 10-yr RI for sodomy bid
A local court has sentenced a 26-year-old imam from Santosh Nagar to undergo 10 years rigorous imprisonment for attempting to sodomize a nine-year-old boy. On June 1, 2018, a housewife from Santosh Nagar lodged a complaint with police saying that her 9-year-old son went to a worship place near their house on May 28, 2018 and returned home crying. When she asked him why he was crying, he told her that the accused had attempted to sodomize him. Based on the complaint, Santosh Nagar police registered arrested the accused.
Motorist rams cop in escape bid
A motorist who attempted to escape from traffic police, on seeing their enforcement against drunk driving, end up dashing an ASI in KPHB. KPHB police said they nabbed the accused, who is into scrap business, and he was made to undergo breathalyzer test. The biker was found drunk and his BAC was 175 mg/100 ml.
Foreign liquor price unlikely to change
The price of foreign brand liquor will remain the same despite the central government’s proposal to reduce excise duty. As part of Europe-India free trade agreement, the government of India has planned to reduce the excise duty, but the state government has no plans to reduce the base price.

A 19-year-old girl from Ghatkesar, who had apparently faked her abduction and gang rape by an auto driver a fortnight ago, was on Wednesday found dead at her home under mysterious circumstances.
Pregnant woman falls from bike, comes under bus
A pregnant woman died after falling from a bike and coming under the wheels of an RTC bus at Himayatnagar Y junction on Wednesday morning. Her husband escaped with injuries. . Cops said that the couple fell after the bike brushed the bus which was moving parallel to it.

Health department proposes budget of Rs 8,500 crore
Health department proposed a budget of around Rs 8,500 crore for this year. Nearly Rs 3,000 crore more than what was budgeted last year. In a review meeting with the minister Eatala Rajender, officials presented proposals worth Rs 8,500 crore as against the budget allocation of Rs 5,666 crore in 2020-21. In addition to the state government allocation there will be grant funds from the Centre for various schemes. The health budget allocations are increasing every year.
Internal discord could hurt TDP in civic polls

2 Maoists held in Telangana, explosives seized
Bhadradri Kothagudem police arrested two Maoists on Tuesday and seized 50 gelatin sticks along with detonators from their possession. While Cherla police of Bhadradri Kothagudem district was conducting patrolling along with the CRPF team at Cherla bus station, they intercepted two people moving under suspicious circumstances. Jagan to roll out another cash benefit scheme in Andhra Pradesh
The state government on Tuesday announced yet another direct cash benefit scheme for women. The scheme would benefit women hailing from economically backward families. The state cabinet, which met here on Tuesday, approved the scheme and decided to roll out it in November. The scheme would give Rs 15,000 per year to the identified women from the EBC category for the next three years. This financial benefit would be given to the EBC women aged between 45 years and 60 years. The state government had sanctioned Rs 670 crore per year amounting to Rs 2,011 crore for the next three years. READ MORE
MLC elections set for a close contest, parties on tenterhooks
All major political parties are now on tenterhooks as a close contest appears to be inevitable in the graduates MLC constituency elections. The reason is that over half of the assembly constituencies in the state are under the two MLC graduates’ constituencies for which elections are being held. Cleric held for cheating cancer patient of Rs 2 lakh
Commissioner’s task force sleuths arrested a cleric from the Old City in connection with an alleged cheating case promising monetary aid to a cancer patient from the Telangana chief minister’s relief fund, on Tuesday. Maulana Ali Quadri, chairman Seert-un-Nabi academy allegedly took Rs two lakh from one Mohammed Jaleeluddin Qadeer Sidddiqui, a resident of Devi Bagh Lane, Bahadurpura. The complainant , Siddiqui alleged that he had to undergo colon cancer surgery for which he needed chief minister’s relief fund for 14.5 lakh. He approached Quadri for this.
Man in Telangana dies after rooster knife pierces groin
An illegal cockfighting in Jagtial turned fatal for a man who bled to death after a knife attached to the leg of his rooster accidentally cut into his groin. After being grievously injured by the ‘kodi kathi’, as the knife is called locally, he was rushed to the hospital but pronounced dead on arrival. Read more

Telangana high court on Tuesday directed the revenue department to file its counter in a petition filed by civil supplies minister Gangula Kamalakar charging the minority welfare department’s secretary with inaction in removing his 15 acres and 26 guntas of land in survey No. 126 at Kazipur village of Kothapalli mandal in Karimnagar district from the wakf properties’ list. Two unknown persons attack advocate in Himayatnagar
An advocate lodged a complaint with police alleging that two unknown persons tried to attack him with a knife on February 16 at his house in Narayanguda. Police seized a knife and eight live rounds abandoned at the house of the advocate. They have launched a probe to nab the accused.
