Police arrests 2 absconders in Kashmir

Srinagar, Feb 24 (UNI) Police on Wednesday claimed to have arrested two absconders, who were evading arrest for a very long time in Kashmir valley.

A police spokesperson said that acting on reliable information, police team was sent to Shimla in Himachal Pradesh. “The police team arrested the absconder, identified as Bashir Ahmad Zagoo, a resident of Sagam Kokernag in Anantnag,” he said, adding the accused was evading arrest from last 31 years.

He said Zagoo was wanted by law for his involvement in case FIR number FIR No 35/1990 Under section 379 RPC of Police Station Nishat. “The accused has been presented before the court at Srinagar by Police Station Nishat,” he added.

He said another absconder, identified as Farooq Ahmad Rajput, a resident of Chount Waliwar, was arrested by police, who was evading his arrest from July 2019. “After tip-off about the presence of the absconder at a specified location, police party raided the place and subsequently arrested the absconder. He was wanted by law for his involvement in case FIR number 40/2019 U/S 420, 392, 506, 120B RPC of Police Station Kangan,” he said.

He said people of these areas have hailed such actions and reaffirmed faith on Police.
