GNIDA to float tenders for waste collection within a week

Greater Noida: The Greater Noida Authority is in the process of selecting contractors for its door-to-door waste collection and management system.
The tenders for both projects will be out in a week and officials said that the contractors are expected to be finalised within a month. They are planning to make the waste management sites at Astoli as well as Lakhnawali fully functional in the next two months.
“We have discussed all the details and our waste collection and management agencies will be finalised very soon. We will be able to float tenders for the collection as well as remediation within a week,” said Narendra Bhooshan, CEO, Greater Noida Authority.
The authority will finalise around 2-5 vendors that will collect waste from households and recycle the segregated waste at decentralised facilities. Five such facilities will be built around the city for decentralised management of household waste, especially from areas where bulk waste is not generated.
“We could give the tender to different vendors or for multiple sites to the same vendor. However, there will be at least two vendors to maintain the competition. We hope to assign the job to NGOs or such social groups that take ownership of the project,” said Bhooshan.
Additionally, the authority will also finalise a vendor for running a scientific landfill site at Astoli for inert waste and for waste remediation at Lakhnawali landfill site.
