Narhegaon resident stabbed by carjackers

Residents of a housing society at Narhegaon woke up to a shocking sight on Monday morning — they saw one of their own lying in a pool of blood, having been stabbed by thieves in the wee hours when he tried to restrain them from stealing his car. He was spied lying in thecar park by another resident on his way out for his morning walk and reported to the security of the society, bringing the incident to light. A case has been registered with the Sinhagad Road police station (PS).
The victim, Pramod Kisan Ghare (35), who thankfully survived the grievous injuries, is undergoing treatment at a privatehospital , and the police complaint has been filed by his wife Komal Ghare.
Khadakwasla and on return, had parked his car at his designated slot in the parking lot of Siddhi Sankalp Society. However, at 3.45 am, he was woken up by some noise coming from the parking area and when he stepped out to his verandah to check, he spotted a man trying to carjack his four-wheeler. When he ran down to tackle the fellow, three others jumped over the wall and attacked him.
As Ghare tried to fight them off, one of them stabbed him in the stomach twice with a knife. He collapsed as they fled, jumping over the wall. Using his blood he scrawled four thieves on the floor. It was an hour-and-a-half later at 5.30 am that he was discovered by a female security personnel, Damayanti Dhakal, who then alerted other society members and his wife. Speaking to Mirror, Dhakal explained, “We did not hear any voices when this incident happened. A boy in the society goes for walk every morning. He saw somebody lying in the parking and came to our guard room to inform that someone was sleeping in the parking lot. When we came to check, we found Ghare on the ground and immediately informed the residents.”
Pramod Waghmare, police inspector at Sinhagad Road PS, informed, “A case has been registered under sections 397 (robbery or dacoity with an attempt to cause death or grievous hurt) and 34 (common intent) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC ) and relevant sections of the Arms Act against four unknown persons. We’re investigating the case.”
