'Rooh Kaanp Gayi': Woman's Hilarious Rant about Going Back to Office Again is All of Us

Pandemic introduced the world to work from home routine. Millions of employees (and employers) in various professional fields realised they could function sitting comfortably on their cosy couches. Though some have had a hard time adjusting to the isolation and the new normal, others have now accepted this as a reality. But now that offices are reopening, this young woman’s rant will resonate with anyone who has abandoned the ‘old normal'.

The woman in the video is Harjas Sethi. She opens the video with some horrific news that her office has recommended ‘return to work’ in an email. She asks if this means people would now have to leave their blankets and comforters, bathe, and get dressed to go out to work. This is a fair enough question because the pandemic lifestyle has drastically changed our work-mode. She says just the question of returning was so horrific that, “Meri rooh kaanp gayi,” (My souljust shivered).

She goes on to say if everyone’s life is going fine, why do we need to do this. Work is still productive, companies have good revenue, don’t have to spend on facilities and transportation—so why return to the old normal.

“Abhi toh dark circles gaye hain, meri zindagi me thodi raunank aayi thi, (finally my dark circles are receding and I had started to feel some joy in life),” she adds because the return to office would negate these developments.

She hilariously adds that she has already packed away all jeans and trousers and even her bras and has fully adopted the pyjama lifestyle. The best part about the video is her hilarious statements delivered with a complete deadpan and expressionless face. Before the video ends, Sethi gently jokes with her employers to not fire her for this.
