TS Galaxy stretched their unbeaten run in the DStv Premiership to five matches with a 1-0 victory over Bloemfontein Celtic at Mbombela Stadium on Wednesday.

Lindokuhle Mbatha and Khayelihle Shozi came into the Galaxy starting lineup, while Mbhazima Rikhotso and Ndumiso Mabena were introduced into Celtic's eleven.

There were no clear-cut opportunities created in the opening exchanges with both teams still trying to find their feet.

With 13 minutes gone, Lindokuhle Mbatha missed the target inside the box after a well-worked move.

Galaxy were the team on the front foot and next Bathusi Aubaas had an attempt but his shot was saved.

Marlon Heugh then came to Galaxy's rescue when he made an excellent diving save to deny Reagan van der Ross.

The hosts deservedly broke the deadlock in the 39th minute when Khayelihle Shozi turned provider for Mbatha who produced a finish to fire the Rockets in front.

Shortly before the interval Mxolisi Machuphu missed from close range after being played in by Mbatha.

The second half was a cagey affair to say the least as Galaxy looked to shut up shop while Celtic lacked penetration.

And in the end, Mbatha's solitary strike would be enough to settle the encounter.
