NEW DELHI: TMC chief and West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee on Wednesday joined in on the football-inspired sloganeering in West Bengal, saying she "won't let BJP score a single goal" in the assembly polls.
"I will be the goalkeeper in assembly polls and BJP will not be able to score a single goal," Mamata said in a rally in Hooghly.
Mamata's comments come after PM Modi had, on February 7 in a rally from Midnapore, said "The people of Bengal are watching and very soon, the state will show the Ram card to TMC."
The red card in football is shown to signify that a player must be sent off the field.
Adding to the insider-outsider narrative in the state ahead of the polls, Mamata said "Gujarat will not rule Bengal."
"Bengal will rule Bengal. Modi will not rule Bengal. 'Gundas' (miscreants) will not rule Bengal," said Mamata.
Mamata further called PM Narendra Modi "the biggest rioter" in the country.
Calling the CBI interrogation of Abhishek Banerjee's wife "an insult to our women," Mamata said a fate worse than former US President Donald Trump awaits PM Narendra Modi.
