NCUI: GC meets today; Salary-hike of Project staffs on cards

The Governing Council of apex co-op body NCUI is meeting today at its headquarters in Delhi. While leaders like Dileep Sanghani, Chandra Pal Singh and Bijender may join the meeting physically, many others would join from their respective locations through the web.

Among other things , the issue of a salary hike for the Project employees is on the agenda. According to sources, the salaries of these employees may register a growth of 25-30 percent, which on average means an increase of Rs 10,000 per month per employee.

It bears recall that the salaries of Project Staff-members are shared on a 50:50 basis between the government and the NCUI. According to sources, the need to raise salary was partly felt as a part of the govt funds lies unutilized. NCUI has either to raise salary or return the money, said an insider.

The other issue on the agenda before the GC could be devising a way forward in the matter of appointing a new Chief Executive. In the last GC meeting held in January, it has resolved to continue with the services of current Chief Executive N Satyanarayan till a suitable candidate is found.
Though the GC had not fixed any deadline for Satya Narayan’s continuation, it has decided to expedite the process of appointing a new officer. There are many GC members who are of the opinion that the services of Satyanarayan (only signatory of cheques) be continued till the NCCT is brought back to the parent fold.

A fresh move to amalgamate the NCCT with NCUI has, meanwhile, gathered steam with NCUI submitting a proposal with the ministry with cogent arguments as to why the two bodies should come together.

Tracing the history of NCCT, NCUI argues that the need for cooperative training and education was felt long ago and it was also felt that this body has to be a part of the NCUI so that a coordinated action could be taken on the issue.

The file was submitted to State Union Minister Parshottam Rupala. The latter forwarded it to the Secretary and down the rung from JS to Deputy Secretary, it presently lies at the desk of Director (Cooperation), said Ministry sources.

According to NCUI sources, there are going to be several absentees in today’s meeting. G H Amin has already expressed his helplessness in attending the meeting, two leaders from Kerala including Sivadasan Nair are also not attending. H K Patil is also unlikely to attend.

While Mudit Verma and Pradeep Kumar are likely to participate in person, Pramod Singh and Sanjiv Kushalkar may join virtually.
