THANE: The Thane civic officials have confirmed that almost 50 per cent of the total 1,268
Covid positive cases in the city are asymptomatic.
They said that while the number of positive cases is increasing, the situation is under control as 604 patients who have tested positive are asymptomatic. Also, 525 of those who have Covid symptoms are stable.
“We are continuously conducting tests and admitting or isolating people who are detected positive so that the virus does not spread. Only 10 per cent of the positive patients are critical and that is mostly because they have comorbidities or are senior citizens. Out of the 139 patients who are critical, five are on ventilator and 134 in the ICU,” said Sandeep Malvi, deputy municipal commissioner, TMC.
It is seen that out of the total Covid positive patients currently 664 are taking treatment or are under observation in the civic-run Covid hospitals or quarantine centres. Almost 28 per cent are in home quarantine and being monitored by health workers. Meanwhile, 247 Covid positive patients are taking treatment in hospitals outside Thane.
Officials said that the city’s weekly growth rate of patients with Covid is 0.24% while the fatality rate is 2.17%. The discharge rate is 95.76%.
