Dr. G N Itoo, the Director of Kashmir Tourism, along with District Development Commissioner (DDC) Budgam, Shahbaz Ahmed Mirza had visited tourist resort Doodhpathri today. They went there to evaluate the preparedness in the middle of upcoming tourist season.
During the visit, the Director summoned a meeting of concerned officers to assess the status of implementation of Draft Master Plan that was designed and prepared for the decoration of this resort.
In the year 2011, he stated that the Master Plan was drafted and remains unimplemented due to some important reasons. But, for its speedy execution, he said; ‘now we have put it in public domain for suggestions/objections from all stakeholders and till date 42 suggestions have been received from different corners.’
He also explained that for speedy clearance and consensus on suggestions a committee consisting of Chief Town planner as its Chairman and member, besides ADC, CEO of Doodhpathri Development Authority, SDM Khansahab and AD Tourism as members will look at the status of suggestions/objections with an intention that a concrete action plan is drafted for speedy action and implementation of master plan recommendations.
The Director also added that under this plan, nine close by villages are notified and we promise that the village inhabitants will be informed secretly and any inconvenience and demand after observing its genuineness will be seriously considered for early action.
He mentioned that the main objective is to make Doodhpathri an important location for tourists, having all adventure related facilities for tourism. Also, he said that we are going to upgrade all current infrastructures, so that anyone visiting this place and stay overnight shall feel comfortable.
The Director highlighted the fact that the Government has designed a stipulated plan to spend Rs. 100 Crore under PMDP for development of Doodhpathri, Yousmarg and Tosamadan in general.
He said that besides development of these resorts on advance parameters, development of Eco tourism facilities will also be done so that tourists coming to these places shall love to indulge in night stays in order to avoid polluted atmosphere of congested areas/cities.
On the occasion, the director in the presence of DDC Budgam stated that department of tourism in together with District Administration and other allied agencies will organize a 3 day tourism festival at Doodhpathri which will commence on 6th of March 2021.
