JD-S, Cong candidates elected as Mysuru Mayor, Deputy Mayor

Mysuru, Feb 24 (UNI) Mysuru Mayor post was bagged by Janata Dal (S) while Deputy Mayor by Congress in the corporation elections held here on Wednesday.
From JD(S), Rkumini Madegowda, was elected to Mayor post. Congress candidate Anwar Baig won the deputy post.
It was unconditional last minute support by Congress to JD(S) which changed the overall picture.
Both Rukumini and Baig bagged 43 votes each, 23 votes more than their BJP rival Sundanda Palanethra and Swathik respectively.
In the 73 member council of Mysuru City Corporation, the BJP has 22 seats, Congress 19 and JDS 18, BSP one and Independent five .
