Rick and Morty has aired four seasons so far, with the fifth season on the way. However, that hasn’t stopped the writers from working on future seasons.

Rick and Morty writer Alex Rubens revealed on Twitter that the team of writers has already started working on season 7 of the series. Considering that season 5 release date isn’t even announced yet, the writers seem to be way ahead of the schedule. This is in line with what creator Dan Harmon said about the series at PaleyFest New York. Harmon had revealed that the team is “more on schedule” than they have ever been.
Harmon also teased an episode from season 5 by saying, “There’s an episode in Season 5 where Morty has a relationship with another female character that’s not Jessica. It’s a great little story and my longtime friend and collaborator Rob Schrab wrote it. [Schrab] has a natural directorial instinct. He also is a tender writer, like a very juvenile John Hughes. He feels heartache on a level that a man his age shouldn’t. There’s an episode in Season 5 that my Emmy is going to.”
