BJP brass’ dilemma grows as BSY-Yatnal feud continues

The BJP brass appears to be in two minds about the ‘Game of Thrones’ between chief minister BS Yediyurappa and senior BJP MLA Basanagouda Patil Yatnal, but quick developments could force the party to come out unequivocally in support of one sooner than later. Yediyurappa and his loyalists have been reportedly mounting pressure on the leadership to rein in Yatnal, who has been issued a show-cause notice, by suspending him since he has been hitting out at the CM and his son, highlighting all their alleged wrongdoings, much to the embarrassment of the party. But the party brass is keeping its cards close to its chest. For, Yatnal has carved out a group of his own to emerge as a Lingayat leader and he is no more the lightweight he once was.

We need better public libraries, safe spaces: Bengalureans

Spending evenings in a chic neighbourhood café working on a laptop or reading may sound idyllic, but some Bengalureans say it only shows the lack of good public libraries in the city. A discussion on the need for public libraries and inclusive spaces began on Twitter after Sneha Visakha, research fellow at Vidhi Centre for Legal Policy, tweeted a thread ‘Demanding public libraries’. “All the cafes where you can go, sit down, get free Wifi, so you can plug in your laptop to work for hours should be what our public libraries should be doing. Tired that you have to spend Rs 200 for coffee you hate just for human company, plus get the library feel to work/read,” Sneha tweeted.
